Connectr Early Engagement partnered with Deloitte and Teach First to design and deliver Trustworthy AI in Education - a six-month professional development programme for school leaders and educators, to make sure schools are able capitalise on the opportunities provided by AI.

Developed in response to growing need for practical AI guidance in schools, the programme combined five virtual learning sessions with one-to-one mentoring from Deloitte AI professionals, supported by practical resources to help participants document progress and apply learning within their schools. 20 schools completed the programme.

Sessions explored topics including:

• The role of AI and EdTech in education
• Ethical and responsible use of generative AI
• Emerging AI tools and applications
• Peer learning and sharing best practice
• Insights from AI experts across education and industry

The supporting mentoring provided invaluable, tailored support to participants, helping participants translate learning into meaningful change within their own settings.

The impact

The programme equipped educators with increased confidence, skills and understanding across the key topic areas.

• 68–100% of participants increased their understanding of the topics covered
• 72–100% reported increased confidence on the topics covered
• 72–100% developed new skills
• 100% would recommend the programme to others

Importantly, the learning translated into action:

• 28% made changes to school strategy
• 25% adapted school policies
• 19% introduced curriculum changes
