Job outcomes for young people in Kingston

The Royal Borough of Kingston wanted to give local young people the skills, confidence and experience they needed to support them into job outcomes. Funding came via the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, within the South London Partnership, which has specific target audiences and outcomes in mind.

Building Kingston Bright Futures, a nurtured employability programme

We worked with Connectr’s long-standing partners Aon, to give Kingston locals access to a 3-day f2f work experience. Understanding the needs of our programme participants, Kingston and Connectr provided multi-touchpoint, wrap around support:

  • Pre-work experience prep day, to feel confidence going into Aon and make the most of the work experience
  • Follow up 1-1 coaching calls with Connectr to offer more bespoke advice, confidence building and signposting
Our impact: supporting participants with their next steps

31 students went through Kingston Bright Futures between July 2024 – March 2025, across 2 separate cohorts, and data shows that 83% of participants identified as from a minority ethnic background. As well as developing career skills, awareness and direction, supporting students into their next steps was a vital marker of success, and to date participants have secured job roles, university spaces and further work experience:

  • 2 participants have already secured job outcomes, including an apprenticeship offer at Proctor & Gamble
  • 3 participants have made successful university applications

“The programme has significantly boosted my confidence in applying for prestigious roles by teaching me how to present myself effectively and encouraging me to believe in my abilities.” - Tanzim, programme participant

The Kingston Bright Futures programme is supported by UK Government and Mayor of London through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.
